This page is dedicated to on going and future projects. Periodically, we will update this page to reflect our progress. The aim will always be to finalise a design and make these yachts available in the near future.
Pringle (US1m) Project
In 2022, we produced a class 3D printed prototype to compete in the US Championships in Los Angelese. Since that time the project was shelved for various reasons. However, after recently being encouraged by increased numbers within in the US1m fleet at the local 'Space Coast MYC' in Florida, I have decided to resume the project by finalising the hull shape, with the aim of launching a carbon version of 'Pringle' later this summer.
The US1m is very different to an IOM. The yachts are smaller in volume typically displacing 2.6Kgs overall. The use of carbon hulls and rigs are accepted. The most concentration of US1m is on the west coast of the country in California, but with increasing numbers showing up in Florida, there seems to be renewed enthusiasm for the class and potential to compete in this year's class championship.

Over the weekend my Akula '3D Prototype' competed in its first US regatta. The Region 7 Championship is the equivalent to a UK (IOM) Ranking race. The event had a fleet of 30 skippers all using top quality and well-established boats. I was pleased to finish the regatta in 10th place and this result provides a solid base for collecting evidence of my design's performance.

The 'Akula' hull is a 3D printed prototype IOM which has been put together by myself and Damian Ackroyd. In a short number of weeks we have managed to finish the project, launching during the New Year period. In the coming months, 'Akula' will be trialled in the US and if successful, it is hoped we can move forward by creating the moulds, to make this our primary IOM design later in 2025.
