Introduction

The Gillette project has been ongoing for the last 18 months which included a prototype that featured in some events during the 2024 season. Development continued but after being inspired by Brad Gibson's 'Post Punk' rig design, I decided to tweak the deck shape of the Gillette so I could use a similar rig format.

Gillette has been purposely created for the experienced home builder of model yachts.  The hull shape remains simple and does not include any hard chines or steep angles along the model. These features keep the construction process as easy as possible for the builder when using wooden planks on a frame.

Gillette comes with supporting documentation to help with the building process and when setting up the rig prior to launching. Depending on which option is chosen by the individual, will dictate the number of documents to be received. These are as follows:

   a. Building Instructions Part 1: General Guidance on construction, including all required measurements of the model and helpful tips.

   b. Building Instructions Part 2: Hull Section Diagrams, including check measurements on each shadow. Hull parts & fittings list.

   c. Gillette (IOM) Rig Set-Up: General Guidance on rig construction, including measurements for basic rig tuning as a starting point.

For the experienced builder there are 2 purchase options available for the Gillette (IOM). Take time to consider both before making the decision. Additionally, I am confident that a carefully built, well rigged Gillette (IOM) is capable of challenging other established designs.

Pricing

Option 1 - £50.00

Includes: Building Instructions Part 1, Part 2 and Gillette (IOM) Rig Set-Up.

Option 2 - £142.00 (UK Mainland Postage included only)

Includes: A laser cut building board with required hull sections that are accurately pre-sized and fit easily to the base.

               Building Instructions Part 1 and the Gillette (IOM) Rig Set-Up.

    Note: The builder will be required to source a 10mm rod for the building board. This item is not supplied.

For builders outside of the UK mainland, Option 2 prices may differ depending on carriage costs, currency and bank charges or other external factors. Therefore, we recommend you enquire prior to purchasing which will include forwarding the full postal address.

Please be aware that sometimes there maybe a delay in sending out building board kits. This is because we bulk order 5 kits at a time and once there is sufficent orders the kits will then be dispatched as required.
